Terms of Service
Effective July 29, 2026
1. The Service
ACSLOP ("the Service") translates dense academic writing into clearer language at adjustable complexity levels, and provides related tools such as a PDF reader, personal library, notes, and social features. The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate translations. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or misleading — translations are reading aids, not authoritative interpretations, and you should verify anything important against the original text.
2. Your Account
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the Service.
3. Your Content
You retain ownership of documents you upload and text you submit. By uploading content you grant us a limited license to store and process it solely to operate the Service (for example, sending text to our AI provider to generate a translation, or storing your PDFs so your reader and notes work). Only upload content you have the right to use. We may remove content that infringes copyright or violates the law, and we respond to valid takedown requests.
4. Acceptable Use
Don't abuse the Service: no scraping at scale, no attempts to breach security, no reselling API access, no uploading unlawful content, and no using the Service to harass others. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
5. Paid Plans
Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel any time from the billing portal and keep access until the end of the paid period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, though we'll consider refund requests in good faith — contact us.
6. Disclaimers and Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
7. Changes
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. If a change is material we will notify you (for example by email or an in-app notice) before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
